Here is their latest graph of world temperatures. Note the significant warming trend, which is in contrast to other climate centers who have observed cooling since 2001:
Now apparently, a hacker has broken into their computer system and published emails and other documents on the internet.
We do not know if this is real or a hoax. It does, however, possibly look real.
Here's an excerpt of one of the emails, attributed to a leading climate researcher at University of East Anglia's CRU in the UK:
I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps
to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.
If this is real, then this deserves to be front page news in every country.
Be careful, some of those emails used Fahrenheit whereas the convention in climate-science, regardless of nationality, is Celsius or Kelvin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wadard.
ReplyDeleteI honestly do hope that, somehow, this is a hoax and that the emails are fake.
I really don't want to believe that some of the world's most emminent climate researchers have been faking their results.
Still, I managed to look at the files myself and so far they look pretty real. Let's see how it turns out.
Stephen,
